Freestyle sessions are designed to allow our competitive figure skaters exclusive practice time. They also have access to our sound system so their program music may be played. Freestyles do not have level restrictions however skaters that are below the Freestyle 1 level must have permission from their coach to skate on these sessions.
While on freestyle, skaters are expected to maintain a respectful attitude at all times. There will be zero tolerance for any ill behavior. Fowl language, kicking the ice, or any other behavior that is disruptive to Iceoplex and its patrons can result in being banned from our facility.
Skaters must always be aware of their surroundings. Below is a list of who has the right-of-way on freestyle. These are safety precautions that will keep everyone safe.
- Skater/Team performing their program to music
- Skaters in private lessons performing their programs
- Private lessons
- High level skaters
- Lower level skaters
To ensure skaters learn to train properly and independently, parents are encouraged to sit in the bleachers or designated seating areas. The player’s benches and scorekeeper’s box where we play music are for coaches and skaters ONLY. If you are not a skater or coach, you will be asked to leave. Parents/Spectators may NOT stand in the doorways.
Sessions must be paid for prior to a skater getting on the ice. If skaters are caught skating without payment, they may be kicked off the ice.
