Iceoplex’s Learn to Skate program offers classes for all ages & ability levels. We base our curriculum off the Ice Skating Institute (ISI) WeSkate Recreational Ice Skating Program. We have a great professional staff that will teach the fundamentals of ice skating in a fun, safe, & structured environment. Whether skaters are here for recreation or have aspirations on becoming competitive figure skaters or hockey players, Iceoplex has something beneficial to offer.
We are fortunate to have many skaters who started in our skating school move on to be Regional, Sectional, National, & International figure skating competitors. Some are also currently on tour with Disney on Ice, Holiday on Ice, & other shows that tour nationally & internationally.
We have a new system for playing program music on freestyle. Click here for details.
Freestyle sessions are designed to allow our competitive figure skaters exclusive practice time. They also have access to our sound system so their program music may be played. Freestyles do not have level restrictions however skaters that are below the Freestyle 1 level must have permission from their coach to skate on these sessions.
We are the only skating school in San Diego with classes specifically for the developmentally disabled.
Tot Starter (Ages 3 - 5) This class is designed for little ones to get introduced to skating and have fun. They will be introduced to basic skills such as the proper way to fall down and get up, standing by themselves, and being able to move on their own.
Any coach wishing to teach private lessons at our facility must contact the Skating Director one week prior to their arrival. The forms listed below must be filled out completely, signed then returned to the Director or Figure Skating for approval before you are allowed to guest coach at Ice-Plex. Also, please send copies of your Liability Insurance and proof you are a member in good standing with U.S. Figure Skating (USFS), Professional Skaters Association (PSA), and/or the Ice Skating Institiute (ISI)
